Although we haven't verified the story with her mother, it is rumored that Beverly Cotten-Dillard was born with clogging shoes on her feet and a banjo pick on her finger. As a child she seemed to innately sense that an audience was waiting for her and threw herself completely into each performance, even if it was a gathering of relatives in her hometown of Morrisville, North Carolina.
Beverly's talents have taken her across the United States and Canada several times as a featured performer at the premiere country, folk and bluegrass festivals, as well as a performance at Carnegie Hall. Her considerable abilities have led to appearances on numerous television programs. She was a frequent guest performer on the "Hee Haw" show over several seasons; a featured guest on Disney Channel's "Epcot's America", hosted by Lloyd Bridges; and two specials for The Family Channel: "Silver Dollar Jubilee Special" and "Silver Dollar City Christmas" with Pat Boone and Lee Greenwood.
Beverly's inimitable style also led to feature performances appeared on the Warner Brothers soundtrack and the television documentary "The Wild West". As her clawhammer banjo picking, folksy vocals and dancing feet captured the attention of audiences around the country, she also captured the eye of legendary bluegrass performer, songwriter and producer, Rodney Dillard, whom she married in 1983. In 1983 the newly formed team of Dillard and Cotten-Dillard packed their bags and moved to Branson, Missouri where they co-wrote and produced the Silver Dollar City live Amphitheatre Show through 1988.
Beverly was also a featured singer, banjo player, dancer and comedienne for the show, which was also nationally syndicated for radio. From 1988 to 1996, Beverly toured with husband Rodney, performed on several recordings by the famed group, "The Dillards", and her own recordings on the Rounder label.
Beverly joined the Buck Trent Breakfast Show in Branson as a featured soloist, where she remained until 2002. Beverly Cotten-Dillard brought her wonderful style of entertainment to "The Grand Ladies" show in Branson and today helps manage The Dillards touring schedule.
